OLEA – OnLine Enhanced Access
Enhanced Access, part of General Practice Alliance, have announced the launch of a brand-new local daytime Online GP Consultation service: OLEA – OnLine Enhanced Access which will be available from the 1st of May 2025.
OLEA will be managed by your trusted local GPs, who are familiar with local healthcare pathways, prescribing guidelines and referrals. This will allow us to be more efficient when dealing with your healthcare needs and gives us greater control over appointment availability.

How will this benefit patients in Northampton?
- Increased availability of GP appointments during the day.
- More video or telephone consultations during the day.
- Improved access to healthcare when you need it during the day.
- Practices will have more visibility or available appointments so they can allocate appointments to better suit your needs.
- GPs with local knowledge of healthcare pathways, referrals and prescribing guidelines, working to support you and reducing delays.
We value your feedback
Your thoughts and suggestions will help us improve the service. If you have any feedback to share, please speak with your GP practice or email [email protected]. We would love to hear from you.
Frequently Asked Questions
You just need to call your GP practice and ask for an OLEA appointment. They will book you in if there are available appointments, and you will receive a confirmation text. If your practice is operating a Triage service which you have accessed, you might be offered an OLEA appointment that way too.
You will receive a call between approximately 9:30am to 1pm on the same day you were booked in.
The appointments are mainly online video consultations. You do not need an App on your phone or access to a computer. For the video consultation, you will receive a text message with a link to follow when the GP is ready to talk to you. Once you have activated your link, the GP will message you and you will be connected directly to them.
If you are not able to do a video consultation, you can ask your practice receptionist for the appointment to be via telephone at the point of booking.
If you are having trouble joining the link for the video consultation, we will give you a call on your mobile number and either provide support in getting you to connect via video or consult via telephone.
Yes. Your GP will have full access to your records just as a GP in your own surgery would. They will be able to see your full record, medication lists, investigations, be able to prescribe and make investigation requests for you.
If a prescription is needed, the GP can prescribe and send the prescription to any pharmacy of your choice. You will be able to collect I from there. If you have registered with a pharmacy delivery service, the GP can send it to them, and they will deliver it to you.
If an investigation is needed, the GP can request the blood test or scan directly instead of having to call your own surgery. The OLEA GP will send you a message with how to arrange that investigation.
Please cancel your GP Practice’s receptionist. Please do this as soon as possible to free up the appointment for someone else.
We will attempt to call you twice within the time of the session. However, if you do miss the appointment you will need to contact your GP Practice and rebook the appointment.
If following an OLEA consultation you need to see a GP in person, this can be arranged through your own practice.
